What we record
Every request to this service is recorded, including requests we cannot fulfil. We keep the claim described, any context supplied with it (location, deadline, stated budget, intended downstream action), and a pseudonymous caller identifier derived by hashing connection metadata. We do not require or collect an account to use the free checks.
Requests are analysed in aggregate to decide what gets supported next. This is the primary purpose of the service: what agents ask for and we cannot answer is what determines the roadmap.
What we do not do with it
- We do not sell or share data that identifies an individual caller.
- Anything shared externally is aggregated or anonymised.
- The full raw text of each request is discarded after 90 days; the structured summary is retained.
Claims about people are refused
We do not verify facts about natural persons — identity, employment, income, tenancy, background, criminal history, or whereabouts. Such requests are refused, are not stored with their text, are not passed to any third party, and do not enter the roadmap. This is a fixed policy, not a capability gap, and rephrasing will not change the outcome.
Veritap is not a consumer reporting agency and results must not be used for any purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including decisions about credit, employment, insurance, or housing.
How results are worded
Verification, when it opens, is multi-source desk research. Results report observed evidence with dates and sources — for example, "the listed phone number was disconnected as of 11 August 2026", or "two sources give different trading addresses". Results do not characterise a subject as fraudulent, fake, or illegitimate. Confidence reflects how well sources actually agree.
A verification is a snapshot of what public sources showed at a stated time. It is not a guarantee, and it is not a substitute for your own judgement on a consequential decision.
Coverage
We state what is supported rather than implying broader coverage. Today the free checking layer works — feasibility, triage, and plan mapping. Two claim types are in scope for verification, both desk-verifiable, and neither is open for purchase yet. Nobody is dispatched to inspect anything physically.
Deletion and access
To request deletion, anonymisation, or a copy of records associated with you, email privacy@veritap.dev. Include enough detail to identify the requests. We will action valid requests within 30 days. Records may be deleted or anonymised on request notwithstanding the retention periods above.
Payment
No payment is taken and paid verification is not currently available. All working functionality — feasibility checks, triage, and plan mapping — is free and requires no account. Prices shown elsewhere on this site are indicative of what verification will cost if and when it opens; they are not an offer to sell.
Should paid verification open, these terms will be updated before any charge is made, and the following will apply: verifications are charged before the work runs, and because the output is research effort rather than a guaranteed answer, a verification that reaches only low confidence still returns the evidence gathered and is not refunded on the basis of the conclusion.
